Pennsylvania fun!

Do any of you have kids that play travel sports?? It is an entirely new world that we were not quite prepared for, and time consuming! We spent basically every weekend in June and July traveling for sports, and you know we love to travel :). Most notably, one of our trips in June was to Malvern, PA...what in the world is in Malvern, PA you might ask...well not much but a large lacrosse tournament was held there so our team booked a hotel and off we went. The area wasn't very populated and there were lots of great local dining choices for us, my favorite part of this trip was discovering "The Office Bar & Grille"! If you are ever passing through this part of town, you have to stop in and eat here. I was diagnosed with life threatening food allergies (more on that later), and I was able to eat there which is a big deal!! In addition to being able to eat there, when we walked in they gave each of the kids an etch-a-sketch - we told them it was an original iPad!! It was so nice to just sit there without the distraction of phones or iPads and enjoy a great meal with our kids. Bonus, it was literally right down the street from our hotel. *Update* I emailed the restaurant owner and asked if I could purchase their gluten free bread and she gave me the contact information of the local baker that she buys it from, I love this restaurant and their customer service!

We spent last weekend (July 14, 15, 16) in Hershey PA, again for a lacrosse tournament but we got to spend all day on the 14th in the park and the kids loved it! It was hot, I mean super hot so I would definitely recommend purchasing the refillable cups (they're expensive but worth it) and staying hydrated all day. Our group ate together and then went our separate ways for rides since I had our youngest with us her taste in rides wasn't exactly the same as the older kids. If you travel to Hershey Park, or any park for that matter, pack your patience...nothing is fast, it takes a while to get food, wait in line for rides, etc. so come prepared and it will save you lots of irritation. The one thing we weren't prepared for was a ride being shut down b/c the temperature on the ride itself (metal seat) had reached an unsafe temperature. The kids were disappointed but I was so grateful that they tested that to keep my kids safe, kudos to Hershey Park!! One thing I wish we had done was the Hershey Factory Tour at the end of the day, it would have been a great way to cool off but we were so tired we didn't have it in us.

To recap - pack your patience, don't forget sunscreen, hats, refillable cups, walking shoes, and take a picture of the row you park in (speaking from experience).

Have you been to Hershey Park? Any tips for a first-timer, or a seasoned pro? I would love to hear them b/c we are booked for this same event next year and I want to be prepared!
